Weekend Rewind



RAWILLER CONTINUES TO ROLL
Brad Rawiller, who posted two trebles last weekend, picked off two more wins on Saturday at Cranbourne, giving the jockey 14 wins since November 18. Over that time he has placed 27 times over 47 races.

FIUMICINO, ANYONE?
FIUMICINO (NZ) (photo from Sydney Morning Herald) moved across $3 million in career earnings with a win in the ATC Cup at Warwick Farm. It was career win No. 6 for the John Hawkes trained 9yo gelding.
WHO’S BOSS?
LE ROI (GER) continued a hot start to his career with his fourth win in six races after winning over 2000m at Caulfield on Saturday. The third-straight win for the 4yo horse was also one of two wins for jockey Glen Boss.

APPRENTICE MONOPOLY
Three apprentice jockeys had a monopoly on the races out at Toowoomba, as Ms. Melody O’Brien, Noriyuki Nishio and Geoffrey Goold, each rode a double on Saturday.

YOUNG SPUNK GETS THEM OVER THE HUMP
Speaking of apprentice jockeys, some also sparked some veterans into the winner’s circle. Nishio rode TOWN DAZZLER to her first win in 31 career races. Fellow apprentice jockey, Ms. Rebecca Williams, posted the first career win for GORILLA’S MIST, the 20th career running for the 4yo gelding. On Friday, apprentice jockey Chad Schofield at Moonee Valley, got the best out of THE WINGMAN (NZ), who won for the first time since December, 2011, a span of 14 races. Schofield started his week with a win at Bendigo the day before and also won again on Saturday at Caulfield

GRANT DOUBLE
Jockey Grant Buckley finished off a strong weekend with back-to-back doubles in New South Wales. On Sunday he rode winners MIGHTY MADELINE and RAPIDO FELINO at Kembla Grange following a double on Saturday at Hawkesburry with Peter Snowden-trained MOUSE and IMPERIL. Buckley won five times and placed in another six races over 17 races this past weekend.

TROUBLE WITH TREBLES
Ten separate jockeys posted trebles over the weekend. Luke Nolen, closed out his Sunday at Wodonga with a win on ZABISCO (NZ) following earlier wins on TOOLANGI and QUICK SNITZEL. Nolen also won atop LAMPEDUSA on Saturday at Caulfield...  There were two trebles in Tasmania this past weekend with Kyle Hocking riding  I’MSINGINGTHEBLUES, JUAN TUFFAMIGO and CHRISTOS BOY to consecutive victories at King Island, while Brendon McCoull rode LANDER DOLLAR, MERITS RESPECT and NAADJI (NZ) to victory at Hobart... Dom Tourneur picked off his own treble with winners on AUSTRALIA DAY, in his maiden race, and WARATONE to open up racing at Morphettville, before winning with MEGA QUEEN later in the day. Tourneur then won again with SANDHILL MISS on Sunday at Murray Bridge.

Peter Moody-trained OFFICE BEARER, won his third-straight to start his career, winning at Warwick Farm over 1300m... FULLERTON, out in Canberra, has won his last two races after six-straight runner-up finishes. In the 5yo gelding’s career, Fullerton has finished first or second in 19 of 32 runnings... NON DIMENTICAR has won each of her last three weekends (her only career wins over 12 races), winning her latest race at Toowoomba on Saturday.... ENDLESS SHADOW has rebounded with three-straight wins after a win at Eagle Farm on Saturday, follow a month to forget. October saw Endless Shadow finish seventh place finish and lose a rider in two consecutive races... LUCKY SOUND, also at Eagle Farm, has made it three-straight over the last month, following a 1400m win... three of SPARTAN WARRIOR’s four career wins came in November, following a Friday win at Moonee Valley... CLASSITHEATRE was one of two wins for apprentice jockey Ms. Ellie Cockram. Classitheatre herself has placed in seven of her eight career races (8—3:3:1)... Four-year old mare, CATHAY LADY, won her second-straight and has placed in each of the last nine races. That run has included four wins.

STILL RUNNING STRONG
Two distinguished older timers won in their 61st race--  5yo CRAIGLEA TINA, was one of two winners for jockey David Rewald, winning at Barcaldine; meanwhile,  SEBONY also won career race No. 61, one of two winners for jockey Ms. Kristen Smart at Cooma... CYCLONE LARRY was one of two wins for jockey Kirk Stone at Innisfail, winning for the sixth time in career race No. 58.... also in career race No. 58, WHITE CAP won for the 16th time in his career over at Gladstone...   7yo mare MANAGING DIRECTOR, in her 53rd running, won her second-straight weekend at Geraldton.
